Welcome
Hello, I am Luisa Welch. Rumour has it that I had wine in my bottle even before I tasted milk. I don’t remember, I was too little! But I knew that wine was white or red, tasted good or bad, and that my dad had an excellent cellar. Fast forward a few decades, I first embarked on a PR and marketing career working with several wine brands, celebrity chefs and top restaurants.
Many of the wines on their lists were new to me, so whilst working at my day job, I put myself through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) programme, achieving the Diploma in Wine and Spirits. More recently, I achieved my WSET Sake qualifications. I also launched wine brands such as Bolla Italian wines, Mommessin French wines and Bombay Sapphire gin, and had the privilege of working with organisations such as the German Wine Information Service, City of London Wine Fair, Marche Food and Wine UK, Gambero Rosso and DoctorWine.
Although never a ‘job’, I didn’t let go of my love for wine and desire to share my knowledge. For many years I taught and did wine tastings when I could. Then some 20 years ago, I set up Euposia Wine Events as an aside to my main job.
It quickly grew, and today I am part of the Association of Wine Educators (AWE), a member of the Circle of Wine Writers (CWW) and regularly deliver my wine events to diverse groups, from wine students to groups of friends and from associations to corporate clients.
